Print v Digital. Why choose?

Welcome! You're here because, like us, you know our design industry is changing. Don't get us wrong, we love print, but we also love the exciting potential of the web & how it can benefit our role as a Graphic Designer (plus who would want to say no to that extra opportunity of work?).

We understand that starting out in web can be daunting; confusing jargon, complex code, the list goes on. Where do you start and what should you learn? The Shillington Web Course will guide you step by step through the process.

What will you learn?

Understanding HTML & CSS

Understanding HTML & CSS

So we've already established that web design and code can be daunting and complex. Let's be realistic, it's the equivalant of learning another language. One that's more geek than chic.

A basic explanation is that HTML is for placing content on the page and CSS is for presentation (or more simply, for making it look pretty). During the course we will learn to write both.

Our web course de-mystifies the process and breaks it down using simple, straight forward and familiar design terms. You'll be surprised at how easy it can be.

  • HTML Fundamentals
  • CSS Fundamentals
  • CSS Typography
  • CSS for Buttons & Navigation
Coding in Adobe Dreamweaver

Coding in Adobe Dreamweaver

Put your hand up if you've opened Dreamweaver before then quickly quit out in complete confusion. You're not the only one.

While Dreamweaver may seem complicated at first, it's actually a great program for a designer learning to write code. Why? Because it's visual - and we're visual people.

Using Dreamweavers visual editor we are instantly able to see how the code we are writing affects our design. By hand coding our HTML and CSS we gain a better understanding of both languages.

  • Hand coding with Dreamweaver
  • Photoshop for the web
  • Usability & Planning
  • Positioning & Layout
Build a website from start to finish

Build a site from start to finish

So we've learnt all these fancy new skills but what's the point if you can't do something with them? Our final goal in the course is to combine HTML and CSS in Dreamweaver to build a functioning website.

Whether your initial goal was to learn to build a website or to better communicate with your developer, our web course will give you a solid foundation for both.

You'll be genuinely surprised and proud of what you can achieve. Don't believe us? Read what our graduates say below.

  • New Semantic elements in HTML5
  • Applying CSS3 now
  • Using Web Fonts & @font-face
  • Understanding Responsive Design
  • SEO & Accessibility Best Practice
