Self-Employed Freelance Designer

What sort of work are you doing?
Custom publishing (magazines, directories etc), corporate ID & design and large format graphics for custom build displays.

What sort of deadlines do you work to?
Always tight ones!

What do you love about Graphic Design?
Most of my clients want things yesterday so I have to work really fast....it is a bit of an adrenaline rush sometimes and I often pull all-nighters, but it's fun! Also, when you design a logo/brand for someone and they see it for the first time they get so excited. You feel really good when they love something you've created for them.

What do you find inspiring?
A lot of my friends are graphic designers and we feed off each other by exchanging ideas and experiences. Also travel, window-shopping, nature and photography inspires some designs.

How has Shillington helped you gain employment?
My portfolio really helped in getting a job. We were also told not to give up or get discouraged. The hardest job to get was my first....but after that it was pretty smooth sailing.
