What is your current job?
Graphic Designer.
What sort of work are you doing?
Brochures, annual reports, websites, magazines, branding/identity, advertising, press ads and assisting the senior designers.
What sort of deadlines do you work to?
It ranges from a couple of hours to over a month.
What do you love about Graphic Design?
I love that there's always something different to do, new ideas to think of and the fact that you are surrounded by inspiration where ever you are.
What do you find inspiring?
I love design books, especially poster design books because a lot of the designs incorporate lateral thinking or carry a political/social message in the most creative way. My visual diary helps (which I started at Shillington) because it's full of inspirational things like leaflets, post-cards, annual reports, magazines, material textures and adventurous typography. I put everything in there and keep it at work.
How has Shillington helped you gain employment?
Shillington really helped by setting the reality of having tight deadlines so when you start in the real world you are used to doing a good job in a short amount of time. After three months at Shillington I had a complete portfolio to present to employers with a range of different work. Shillington also taught me all the necessary computer skills in a range of programs so I could jump straight into it when I joined Equation.
